Overview
What is medical-grade facials?
What it is
Medical-grade facials use professional-grade products and techniques that go beyond a standard pampering facial. Each treatment is chosen around a skin assessment, targeting concerns such as dullness, congestion, uneven texture or dehydration.
Who it's for
They suit anyone who wants healthier-looking skin, whether as a standalone treatment, preparation for an event, or part of a long-term skin plan alongside other treatments.
When to consider it
Many clients book when their skin looks dull, congested or stressed, when their home routine isn't delivering, or as regular maintenance for skin health.
Why expertise matters
Choosing the right products and techniques for your skin type matters. Rae holds an Ofqual-regulated Level 2 Award in Skin Care and Facial Treatments and has completed certified training in dermaplaning, so each facial is tailored rather than generic.
Before you book
Common mistakes
to avoid
Good skin is usually the result of consistent, well-chosen care.
Using the wrong products at home
Products that don't suit your skin can undo the benefit of in-clinic treatment. You'll get home-care advice.
Over-exfoliating
Too much exfoliation can leave skin sensitised. A professional assessment helps find the right balance.
Treating skin as a one-off
Skin changes with seasons, stress and age. Regular review keeps your plan relevant.
Our process
Five considered steps
Step 1 – Get in touch
Call 07457 414718 or send the enquiry form. Tell Rae what you'd like to change, or simply that you'd like advice. You'll be offered a consultation at the Chelmsford or Maldon clinic.
Step 2 – Consultation
A thorough, unhurried conversation about your goals, lifestyle and medical history. Rae assesses your skin and features, explains the options honestly, including when a treatment isn't the right choice, and a patch test is carried out where appropriate. Where required, treatments are prescribed by an independent prescriber following a face-to-face consultation.
Step 3 – Cooling-off period
Before any treatment goes ahead, you'll have time to reflect. There's no pressure to book on the day. This is especially important for first-time clients, so every decision is a considered one.
Step 4 – Treatment
Your treatment is carried out in a calm clinical setting, following the plan agreed at consultation. Rae talks you through each stage so you know exactly what's happening.
Step 5 – Aftercare & review
Your care doesn't end when you leave the clinic. In the rare event of a complication or adverse reaction, we will look after you and any corrective treatment is provided free of charge. You'll receive clear aftercare guidance, and can contact the clinic with any questions afterwards.

Preparing for treatment
Safety, suitability
and what to expect
Before your consultation
Make a note of any medical conditions, medicines, supplements and allergies, plus any previous aesthetic treatments and when you had them. This helps Rae review your medical history accurately and tailor, or, where needed, adjust, your plan to keep you safe. If you have an important event coming up, mention it so treatment can be timed sensibly.
Questions worth asking
What result is realistic for me? How many sessions might I need? What does aftercare involve, and who do I contact if something doesn't feel right? A good practitioner welcomes these questions. Rae will answer them openly and will tell you if a treatment isn't the right choice for you.
On the day
Arrive with a clean face where possible and allow time to go through consent and any final questions. Nothing goes ahead until you're comfortable, and first-time clients will already have had a cooling-off period since their consultation.
