Overview
What is anti-wrinkle injections?
What it is
Anti-wrinkle injections use a prescription-only medicine to temporarily relax specific facial muscles. When those muscles contract less strongly, the dynamic lines they create, horizontal forehead lines, the vertical '11s' between the brows and crow's feet around the eyes, soften and appear smoother.
Who it's for
The treatment suits adults who notice lines that deepen when they frown, raise their brows or smile, and who want to look less tired or stressed without changing how their face moves day to day. It's often chosen by people who want a subtle refresh rather than a dramatic change.
When to consider it
Many clients first consider treatment when lines that once disappeared at rest start to linger, or when friends comment that they look tired or cross when they don't feel it. Softening dynamic lines early can help reduce how deeply they become etched over time.
Why expertise matters
The result depends on precise placement and careful dosing. Too much product in the wrong place can leave a heavy brow or a 'frozen' look; too little may do nothing noticeable. A practitioner who assesses how your individual muscles move, and who works with an independent prescriber following a face-to-face consultation, gives you the best chance of a natural outcome.
Before you book
Common mistakes
to avoid
Expression lines are a normal part of life. But how you approach treating them makes a real difference to the result.
Choosing on price or promotion
Heavily discounted offers and 'deals' on prescription-only treatments often come without a proper consultation, medical history review or aftercare. That's why New Aesthetics does not run time-limited offers on injectables.
Expecting one appointment to fix everything
The effect is temporary and gradual. Understanding this at consultation avoids disappointment and helps you plan realistic maintenance.
Over-treating
Aiming to erase every line can leave the face looking flat or unexpressive. A conservative approach usually looks better and keeps you looking like yourself.
Ignoring aftercare
Following the aftercare guidance you're given helps the treatment settle as planned.
Our process
Five considered steps
Step 1 – Get in touch
Call 07457 414718 or send the enquiry form. Tell Rae what you'd like to change, or simply that you'd like advice. You'll be offered a consultation at the Chelmsford or Maldon clinic.
Step 2 – Consultation
A thorough, unhurried conversation about your goals, lifestyle and medical history. Rae assesses your skin and features, explains the options honestly, including when a treatment isn't the right choice, and a patch test is carried out where appropriate. Where required, treatments are prescribed by an independent prescriber following a face-to-face consultation.
Step 3 – Cooling-off period
Before any treatment goes ahead, you'll have time to reflect. There's no pressure to book on the day. This is especially important for first-time clients, so every decision is a considered one.
Step 4 – Treatment
Your treatment is carried out in a calm clinical setting, following the plan agreed at consultation. Rae talks you through each stage so you know exactly what's happening.
Step 5 – Aftercare & review
Your care doesn't end when you leave the clinic. In the rare event of a complication or adverse reaction, we will look after you and any corrective treatment is provided free of charge. You'll receive clear aftercare guidance, and can contact the clinic with any questions afterwards.

In detail
Anti-Wrinkle Injections:
what to know
A closer look at how anti-wrinkle treatment works and where it's commonly used.
Common treatment areas
The most frequently treated areas are the forehead, the glabella (frown lines between the brows) and the lateral eye area (crow's feet). Each area has different muscle patterns, so dosing and placement are planned individually. Suitability for any area is confirmed at consultation.
Dynamic vs static lines
Dynamic lines appear with movement; static lines remain visible at rest. Anti-wrinkle injections work on the muscle activity behind dynamic lines. Deeply etched static lines may soften over time but can sometimes benefit from a combined approach, for example, skin-quality treatments such as skin boosters or microneedling, which Rae can discuss with you.
How results develop
Changes appear gradually rather than immediately, and the effect wears off over time as muscle activity returns. The pace and duration differ from person to person, which is why Rae explains what to expect for you specifically at consultation.
Prescribing and safety
Where required, treatments are prescribed by an independent prescriber following a face-to-face consultation. Your medical history is reviewed at consultation and treatments are tailored or adjusted where needed to keep you safe. Rae has completed foundation and advanced training in anti-wrinkle injections with BW Beauty & Aesthetics Academy.
Preparing for treatment
Safety, suitability
and what to expect
Before your consultation
Make a note of any medical conditions, medicines, supplements and allergies, plus any previous aesthetic treatments and when you had them. This helps Rae review your medical history accurately and tailor, or, where needed, adjust, your plan to keep you safe. If you have an important event coming up, mention it so treatment can be timed sensibly.
Questions worth asking
What result is realistic for me? How many sessions might I need? What does aftercare involve, and who do I contact if something doesn't feel right? A good practitioner welcomes these questions. Rae will answer them openly and will tell you if a treatment isn't the right choice for you.
On the day
Arrive with a clean face where possible and allow time to go through consent and any final questions. Nothing goes ahead until you're comfortable, and first-time clients will already have had a cooling-off period since their consultation.
